About Sam

Sam Uffindell, was born in Auckland and lives in the Bay of Plenty with his wife Julia and their three young children.

Sam has almost 15 years’ experience in banking across New Zealand, Australia and Asia, specialising in financial crime and sanctions, including five years with Westpac, four years with Macquarie and time at Commonwealth Bank and the Singapore office of Deutsche Bank, where he worked as Vice President with responsibility for financial sanctions in the Asia Pacific region. He was most recently the Head of Financial Economic Crime at a New Zealand Bank. 

In addition to his day job, Sam is an owner and director of New Zealand HuMates, a small local agribusiness that provides soil quality products to farmers and growers.

Sam holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the University of Otago and a Master of International Law and International Relations from the University of New South Wales. He has completed diplomas in Financial Planning and Applied Anti Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing.

Outside of work, Sam enjoys spending time with family and friends, running, surfing and growing avocados!
